Proposals lodged for 43 homes
A FORMER industrial site on the outskirts of Thornton could soon be transformed into a housing estate.
Plans have been submitted by Fife Council to transform the local authority’s former roads maintenance yard into a location for 43 affordable properties.
Based along Strathore Road, on the western edge of the village, developers hope to build a variety of semi-detached and terraced one and two-storey homes at the site.
Two large open spaces, private parking and additional visitor parking has also been incorporated into provisional designs for the estate.
A design statement submitted as part of the application states: “The proposals successfully address infrastructure issues, site characteristics and locational context.
“Overall, it is considered that the design approach adopted is a well-considered and appropriate response to the site constraints and provides a positive design solution.”
