Man on se­ries of firearms charges

A DUNDEE man has been ac­cused of a se­ries of firearms of­fences — in­clud­ing pre­sent­ing a gun at a woman and pos­sess­ing a pis­tol.

Dar­ren An­der­son, 28, ap­peared at Dundee Sher­iff Court where he faced two sep­a­rate in­dict­ments in­volv­ing a num­ber of charges.

An­der­son, whose ad­dress was given in court as the Lily Walker Cen­tre in Ann Street, is ac­cused of be­ing found with a pis­tol in Mor­gan Street on Novem­ber 19 last year.

It is al­leged that this hap­pened while he had 342 days re­main­ing of a prison sen­tence, im­pose in June 2015, which had not yet ex­pired.

An­der­son is also charged with en­gag­ing in a course of con­duct which caused Roddy Bal­four to suf­fer fear and alarm on a num­ber of oc­ca­sions in Mor­gan S t r e e t be­tween Septem­ber 30 and Novem­ber 14, both last year.

He al­legedly ges­tic­u­lated to­wards Mr Bal­four, phoned him, chal­lenged him to a fight, threat­ened him with vi­o­lence, threat­ened to dam­age his car and threat­ened to dam- age his house.

An­der­son is fur­ther ac­cused of pos­sess­ing and dis­play­ing a hand­gun to Na­dine Kel­bie in­An­nStreet onNovem­ber 10 last year. He also al­legedly drove in Mor­gan Place in an er­ratic man­ner and re­peat­edly stared in win­dows on Novem­ber 17 last year.

An­der­son is also ac­cused of pos­sess­ing a firearm in Mor­gan Street on Novem­ber 19 last year with the in­ten­tion of caus­ing Mr Bal­four to be­lieve that un­law­ful vi­o­lence would be used against him.

An­der­son de­nies all of the charges against him.

A first diet was con­tin­ued un­til Tues­day in or­der for fur­ther prepa­ra­tions to be made by An­der­son’s de­fence team and he was re­leased on bail mean­time.
