IN the Dundee Satur­day Morn­ing League (DSMFL) Bal­gay Bar First Di­vi­sion Cup, the fold­ing of Charleston means two from three will go through from Group A.

The Beat pulled off the re­sult of the day, hold­ing high fly­ing FC Men­zieshill to a 3-3 draw hav­ing led three times.

In the other group, St James are in the driv­ing seat af­ter a hard fought 2-1 win over Ferry Me­chan­ics.

With the Sto­b­swell v Cairdy This­tle re­sult miss­ing, who will join them is un­cer­tain.

Can­non Fodder’s 4-0 win over Moni­fi­eth gives them an out­side chance of pro­gress­ing with two games to play.

Craig Ste­wart opened the scor­ing to give Fodder a half-time lead.

James G a l l a c h e r notched from close range with the tie still wide open and the in­tro­duc­tion of French debu­tant Gabriel Marcq paid in­stant div­i­dends with the pocket dy­namo scor­ing a header with his first touch. He calmly fin­ished two min­utes later with his sec­ond.

In the Tir­d­ent Tro­phies Sec­ond Di­vi­sion, Bank St Ath­letic’s 3-2 win over Sto­b­swell Ath­letic puts them top in Group A.

Boars Rock’s 7-2 win over Fife This­tle sees them go sec­ond top on goal dif­fer­ence ahead of Sid­law Al­bion, who earned a 2-1 win against Kelso.

Group B is topped by FC Boukir, who eased past Dundee City 6-2, with half-a-dozen scor­ers on tar­get.

Al­lan Jar­rett opened the scor­ing for the Carnoustie lads with Dave O’Sul­li­van, Chris Reid, Greg An­der­son, Ed­die Grant and Rus­sell Ste­wart also on the mark.

Cleppy So­cial’s 3-3 draw against Char­lie’s Ac­cies keeps them in sec­ond on goal dif­fer­ence, while Clark’s FC’s 4-0 win over Oc­ci­den­tal keeps them in the chase.

This week­end sees 20 DSMFL teams in the sec­ond round of the Di­rect Soc­cer spon­sored North of Tay Cup.

There are four al­lDSMFL ties with Cairdy This­tle tak­ing on DUSC, Can­non Fodder at home to Club 83, Sto­b­swell AFC play­ing St James and Boars Rock clash­ing with Hawkhill. All those ties are morn­ing kick-offs.
