Why mitigate benefits law?
REGARDING council leader John Alexander and his rant about the impact of Universal Credit on benefits claimants.
I would like an answer to one simple question: why are you “mitigating” benefits legislation and using my taxes to do it?
These policies are not there to be mitigated, they are in place to ensure fairness for all and value for the taxpayer in not funding an unsustainable lifestyle to those who cannot (or will not) provide for themselves.
The “bedroom tax” is a myth and it is a fair policy.
If you cannot afford to live in a home with a spare room, then I suggest you move house or – perish the thought – get a job.
