Rocks hang tough for tilt at title

- By MEL CAMERON

JONNY BUNYAN has insisted Glasgow Rocks should set their sights on silverware.

Sterling Davis’s men will move up to third if they beat Sheffield Sharks tonight.

Bunyan, the club’s longest serving player, believes there is a demeanour about the Rocks team that has not always been present in the past.

“There is something about the way we’re playing and the personnel we have,” the Scotland guard said. “It starts with having Neil Watson and all the experience he brings.

“But then you look at Gareth Murray coming back and the guys who Sterling found over the summer who have been really positive addition.”

To challenge for the title, Glasgow will still need to go through the omnipotent duo of Leicester and Newcastle who sit, with some familiarity, in the top two spots of the standings.

But Bunyan countered: “The gap might have lessened but no-one can say for sure yet. We’ve not proved yet we can win when it counts which is what they can both do.”

Sheffield are set to arrive in disarray after ditching two imports after just one week.
