Riders gear up for Euro challenge

AVID cyclists from across Glasgow have joined forces ahead of the European Cycling Challenge.

Glasgow took part in the event for the first time last year and placed 18th having cycled a total of 79,380 miles.

This year, the challenge is set to be bigger than ever as seven local authoritie­s take part.

East Dunbartons­hire, East Renfrewshi­re, Glasgow, North Lanarkshir­e, Renfrewshi­re, South Lanarkshir­e and West Dunbartons­hire have teamed up with the NHS to form Team “Glasgow City Region”.

The boundary includes much of the Clyde Valley and everyone is invited to take part in the challenge which runs from May 1 to 31.

The European Cycling Challenge aims to encourage all kinds of commuter, leisure and utility cycling.

Anyone who signs up for the challenge will receive a promotiona­l saddle cover and snap band.

Throughout the event there will be prize draws for those taking part and multiple categories for the 120 prizes.
