THOUSANDS of people brought a burst of colour to an East Renfrewshire park at the weekend.
Celebrating diversity, the Festival of Colour took place at Rouken Glen in Giffnock on Saturday.
People of all ages turned out to the annual event of music and colours – using a powder call gulal to cover the park and themselves in bright and colourful shades.
The celebration of diversity, known as Holi, comes from the roots of Hin- du belief and aims to bring people together regardless of class, status, colour or creed.
The powder is used to create a vibrant atmosphere with the aim to reinforce that religion and social status should not be a barrier within society.
Activities on the day also included a bouncy castle, henna hand painting and a variety of food stalls.
Paul Kane, the convener of education and equalities said: “It is a fantastic celebration.”
