Thousands turn out to see top pipe bands
THOUSANDS enjoyed the Scottish Pipe Band Championships in Dumbarton.
The annual event on Saturday, in Levengrove Park, is the largest free pipe band competition in the world and attracts visitors from across the globe.
Attractions included traditional Highland dancing competitions, a funfair, a wide selection of trader stalls and, pipes and drums from some of the best pipe bands in the world.
Provost William Hendrie said: “As the new Provost in West Dunbartonshire, I am honoured to be taking on the role of Chieftain for this wonderful event, which West Dunbartonshire has had the honour of hosting for the last 18 years.
“Few events can boast the colour, historical significance, the sounds and sights of a pipe band competition and the Scottish Championships is one that so many people look forward to.”
