Mod sets record

OR­GAN­IS­ERS of Scot­land’s big­gest cel­e­bra­tion of Gaelic cul­ture are ex­pect­ing a record-break­ing year for the num­ber of par­tic­i­pants.

The Royal Na­tional Mod is set to have more than 3,600 peo­ple take part, as the fes­ti­val re­turns to Fort Wil­liam for the first time in a decade.

Dur­ing the nine-day event, thou­sands will com­pete in High­land danc­ing, sport, lit­er­a­ture and drama, as well as Gaelic mu­sic and song.

John Mor­ri­son, chief ex­ec­u­tive of or­gan­is­ers An Co­munn Gaid­healach, said: “We’re ex­cited to be re­turn­ing to Fort Wil­liam for the first time in 10 years.”

The fes­ti­val takes place from Oc­to­ber 13-21.
