Stones reck­ons City can dream on

JOHN STONES be­lieves Manch­ester City can dream of win­ning the Cham­pi­ons League – but is not get­ting car­ried away by their im­pres­sive start.

Cen­tre-back Stones was one of the star per­form­ers as City opened their sev­enth suc­ces­sive cam­paign in the com­pe­ti­tion with an em­phatic 4-0 win at Feyeno­ord.

Stones got on t he score­sheet twice in Rot­ter­dam, set­ting up his side’s vic­tory stroll in the sec­ond minute and then wrap­ping up the rout af­ter strikes from Ser­gio Aguero and Gabriel Je­sus.

City will un­doubt­edly face tougher chal­lenges than the one pre­sented by the Dutch cham­pi­ons but this ex­hil­a­rat­ing per­for­mance did mark them out as gen­uine con­tenders for the crown.

Stones said: “I think we have got to dream and feel con­fi­dent enough we can do it – and why not be­cause we want to be in every com­pe­ti­tion, try­ing to win things.
