Dan will be big for Saints in second half, says Jack

JACK ROSS has predicted big things from Danny Mullen after St Mirren turned the striker’s loan deal into a permanent move.

The 22-year-old has penned a two-and-a-halfyear contract after the Buddies paid a fee to remove him from the remaining five months of his agreement at Livingston.

The attacker, who went on trial with Cardiff City last summer, moved to Paisley last month, with a permanent switch understood to have been agreed at the time.

Mullen, who had an ankle injury, has started twice in five appearances for St Mirren so far and manager Ross believes his best is yet to come.

He said: “I spoke when he signed the emergency loan about how pleased I was to get him.

“It’s been difficult for him because he’s been playing catch-up a little bit having had the injury, but the contribution he has made in the two games he’s started has been brilliant.

“He’s still adjusting to how we train and how we play but he’s settled in really well and the players like him.

“I think he’ll play a big part for us in the second half of the season.”

Meanwhile, ex-Rangers, Falkirk and Swansea City striker Darryl Duffy has expressed his delight at joining Airdrie on loan for the rest of the season.

The St Mirren marksman has enjoyed just four outings since penning a 12-month deal with the Buddies in August following his return from a spell in Indian football.

With appearances also expected to be limited in the second half of the campaign as the Paisley outfit chase the Championship title, the 33-yearold has been farmed out to the Diamonds.

He said: “I’m buzzing to join Airdrie for the rest of the season. I can’t wait to get some game-time and hopefully get in amongst the goals.”

Duffy is expected to make his debut for the League One outfit in tomorrow’s trip to face Stranraer.
