MYSTERY AFTER GRIM BODY FIND IN PARK
POLICE are still waiting to identify the body found in a park i n the east end of Glasgow.
A member of the public discovered the body i n Hogarth Park in Carntyne shortly after 5.30pm on Monday.
The park was sealed off with a cordon put up round the perimeter of the park as investigations started.
Several police officers stood guard throughout yesterday to all entrances to the park and at various sections where people could gain access, on Carntyne Road, Todd Street, Ledaig Street and Edinburgh Road.
The Evening Times reported yesterday how a number of officers and an ambulance rushed to the site late on Monday afternoon.
People in the area said they were unaware of any incident until the large police presence appeared.
One woman who lives close to the park said: “The first I knew was when I saw all the police around the park.”
Police said that they were still in the process of identifying if the body was that of a man or woman.
It is understood the body has lain undiscovered for some time.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Formal identification is still to take place and a post-mortem will take place to establish the exact cause of death, which officers are treating as unexplained at this time.
“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
