Blind vet­er­ans’ sculp­tures to go on dis­play

A FREE fam­ily event at a Glas­gow mu­seum will dis­play the cre­ativ­ity of vet­er­ans with sight loss.

The ex­hi­bi­tion of self­por­trait sculp­ture, See­ing Through Sculp­tures, at Kelv­in­grove Art Gallery will run on Oc­to­ber 16 from noon to 3.45pm.

The event fea­tures self-por­trait busts made by vet­er­ans liv­ing with vis­ual im­pair­ment, who are sup­ported by Scot­tish War Blinded.

The vet­er­ans were led by artist Ja­son Davis in eight ses­sions at the char­ity’s ac­tiv­ity hub, the Hawk­head Cen­tre in Pais­ley, to cre­ate their own heads in clay.

The ex­hi­bi­tion will also fea­ture an ‘Eye Chal­lenge’ for chil­dren of all ages – a chance to try out clay model mak­ing while wear­ing sight loss sim­u­la­tion spec­ta­cles.

Ses­sions will take place in the mu­seum’s main cen­tre hall.
