Blind veterans’ sculptures to go on display
A FREE family event at a Glasgow museum will display the creativity of veterans with sight loss.
The exhibition of selfportrait sculpture, Seeing Through Sculptures, at Kelvingrove Art Gallery will run on October 16 from noon to 3.45pm.
The event features self-portrait busts made by veterans living with visual impairment, who are supported by Scottish War Blinded.
The veterans were led by artist Jason Davis in eight sessions at the charity’s activity hub, the Hawkhead Centre in Paisley, to create their own heads in clay.
The exhibition will also feature an ‘Eye Challenge’ for children of all ages – a chance to try out clay model making while wearing sight loss simulation spectacles.
Sessions will take place in the museum’s main centre hall.
