SIR: Growing up in the 1970s I used to love watching the television series The White Horses. It was dubbed into English from what I believe was the original Yugoslavian or German version. The programme’s theme song was one of my all- time favourites, but does anyone know who the singer was? — JILL * The singer was Jackie Lee who was born in Ireland in 1936 and had a successful career from 1955 to 1973. The song “White Horses” ( credited to “Jacky”) made the UK Top 10 in April 1968 and was written by Michael Carr and Ben Nisbet. — Ed.
