Earlier this year on BBC One there was an excellent series on Sunday evenings called The Big Painting Challenge. It was a competition between amateur painters and each week they were set a series of three challenges, which they were judged on. At the end of each programme the artist whose work had failed to impress the judges was eliminated from the contest. It really highlighted the talents of the amateur artists and it was great to see them making progress across the weeks.
