LESLIE WELCH, THE MEMORY MAN

Evergreen - - Spring 2016 -

How

ironic that Leslie Welch ( left) ( 1907- 1980), is now largely forgotten. His photographic memory meant he could remember anything he had read about sport and his stage act included random questions from the audience. Rarely was he stumped about the past but when he was asked about the contemporary football league table, he admitted he hadn’t yet seen it so didn’t know the answer.
