MUSICAL MEMORIES

Evergreen - - Spring 2016 - PUCKLECHURCH, GLOUCESTERSHIRE.

MADAM: A little while ago I was thinking of some very old musicals and previously I’d been given a tablet by my family. Managing to Google I was delighted to find that a DVD was available of Chu Chin Chow, which I saw on stage. I put it on my Christmas list, but was disappointed to discover that the DVD was from America and not compatible with our machines. However, it got me thinking about all the very old musicals I’d seen including the film versions of Rose Marie and The Dancing Years. There are, of course, many more later, wonderful films. It occurred to me that it would be interesting to hear from other readers of their memories of old musicals. Also, would it be worth your while producing a Yesterday’s Music CD of these wonderful old melodies, before they are forgotten?

I’m still reading your excellent magazine after many years and it is still just as interesting. — FREDA M. BROWN, * Many favourite melodies from these magical musicals are already featured on our Songs from the Shows CDs. ( A complete list is available from our Editorial Office by sending a SAE.) — Ed.
