When I was invited to appear on Biggles FM radio in Bedfordshire, I naturally associated it with Biggles the fictitious First World War pilot. In fact it is a shortened form of nearby Biggleswade. My invitation came from Douglas Coombes who runs a regular programme of good music and once ran Singing Together for schools ( see Evergreen, Autumn 2016).
Several local radio stations exist and are worth checking out because many play music which the BBC ignores as being too melodic. Classic FM can be tuneful but has a strictly limited playlist and many of its other offerings have to be paid for. See what you can find out locally!
