MARKET THEATRE, LEDBURY

Evergreen - - News -

It was pleasing to hear about the Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society in Herefordshire, ( LADS for short), who managed to raise enough funds to build the first theatre of the new millennium. Dating back to 1938 they performed in a POW camp before moving in 1950 to the Church Room, which they successfully renovated.

Their new purpose- built theatre, however, seats 128 with wheelchair access, foyer, bar, dressing rooms and backstage storage with volunteers running a wide range of performing arts with facilities also open to schools and independent groups.

Self- financing, the enterprise is to be congratulated on its role within the local community and I look forward to hearing about other local amateur dramatic societies.
