FIRST DUKE’S PRICE­LESS TA­PES­TRY

BLEN­HEIM PALACE’S 300 YEAR old Bra­bant Ta­pes­try has been re­turned to its for­mer glory fol­low­ing a 12 month ren­o­va­tion project in Bel­gium and the UK. The ta­pes­try is one of a se­ries com­mis­sioned by the First Duke of Marl­bor­ough be­tween 1706-1710 to cel­e­brate his stun­ning vic­to­ries in the War of Span­ish Suc­ces­sion. Af­ter clean­ing in Bel­gium, it was re­turned to the UK and taken to Emma Telford's stu­dio to be painstak­ingly con­served. The del­i­cate and in­tri­cate process of restor­ing each ta­pes­try takes be­tween 9 and 12 months to com­plete and costs £30,000.
