IT’S TIME TO PROVE THEMSELVES
Graeme Lowdon and John Booth have gone and now ex-mclaren men Dave Ryan and Pat Fry are in charge: I worked with them both and know them well. I have great respect for their achievements and if they are fully empowered, and financially given the hand they need, then I think this team will catapult themselves up the grid. They have a Mercedes engine now, a Williams rear end, plus a promising new driver in Pascal Wehrlein.
But they need to improve and must deal with new team Haas coming into the sport, who could embarrass them by becoming the best start-up team for some time. It will be interesting to see what they can do this year.
MURRAY ON MANOR
My heart bleeds for John Booth and Graeme Lowdon following their departure from the team they so tenaciously built. New team manager Dave Ryan knows which way is up and he’s got a mountain to climb, but Mercedes power will be a big help upwards and onwards from the foothills.
