EV­ERY year, mil­lions of pieces of rub­bish wash up on the UK’s beaches. This month, the Ma­rine Con­ser­va­tion So­ci­ety (MCS) is call­ing on YOU to help, by join­ing in with the Great Bri­tish Beach Clean.

From 15-18 Septem­ber, vol­un­teers from around Bri­tain will be col­lect­ing lit­ter at more than 350 UK beaches and rivers.

In 2016, a stag­ger­ing 268,384 pieces of lit­ter were col­lected in just one week­end, in­clud­ing plas­tic bot­tles, wet wipes and bal­loons.

It is more im­por­tant than ever to keep our beaches and oceans clean, so why not do­nate your time to help? You can find a list of the or­gan­ised beach cleans hap­pen­ing near you at mc­suk.org/
