Name: Rama Age: Eight Lives: Le­banon RAMA is eight years old, and goes to spe­cial classes for chil­dren who have not been able to at­tend school.

She grew up in Akrem, in Syria, but came to Le­banon four years ago to es­cape the vi­o­lence of the Syr­ian civil war.

Le­banon, a coun­try which al­ready faces a num­ber of chal­lenges, has been heav­ily af­fected by the con­flict in neigh­bour­ing Syria. More than one in four peo­ple in the coun­try are now refugees.

UNICEF is work­ing in Le­banon to en­sure chil­dren who have fled war and con­flict are able to ac­cess their right to ed­u­ca­tion. To find out more, visit
