Faroe Islands

First News - - World News -

The tiny Faroe Islands, situated between Iceland, Norway and the UK, have started their own online translation service. Google Translate doesn’t include the native language, Faroese, so they’re translating it themselves! Tourists who want to know how to say something in Faroese can put in a request for a translation, and a volunteer on the island will respond with a short video of them saying it, (nearly) instantly! Faroese comes from Old Norse and is spoken by around 66,000 people.
