POLICE FOIL WORLD’S BIGGEST BANK ROBBERY
CRIMINALS who spent £750,000 digging a huge tunnel into a bank vault have seen their dreams of wealth crumble, after police discovered their cunning plot.
The raid in São Paulo, Brazil, could have seen the gang walk away with a mind-boggling £250m. Although they wouldn’t be walking, because they also had several bullet-proof cars to use in the getaway!
Police arrested 16 people in a raid, after spending three months watching the house the gang was renting. The tunnel was more than 500m (1,640ft) long, tall enough for a man to stand up in, and was equipped with lights and ventilation, plus rail tracks to take the money away.
