Terrific year for terns

First News - - Home News -

One of the UK’s smallest and rarest seabirds has beat the odds to produce a record number of 617 chicks this year. Little terns weigh no more than 55g and their numbers have dropped dramatically in the UK. They fly more than 3,000 miles from West Africa to the UK every year to raise their chicks on our shingle beaches.
