COLLINS Dictionary has announced its word of the year (although it’s actually two words): ‘fake news’.
The term has been used so much over the last year, often by Donald Trump. It will be added to the next print edition of the dictionary.
Other words and phrases that made the shortlist include ‘Corbynmania’, a reference to Jeremy Corbyn’s popularity, and ‘fidget spinner’. They will be added to the online version of the dictionary.
