Archibald and Barker also won gold in the madi­son, and Bri­tain’s men’s team won their team pur­suit fi­nal.

tennis Fed Cups have now been won by the USA af­ter they beat Be­larus 3-2 in this year’s best-of-five fi­nal. It was the Amer­i­cans’ first win in 17 years. The dra­matic tie saw US Open cham­pion Sloane Stephens lose 4-6, 6-1, 8-6 to Ali­ak­san­dra Sas­novich, be­fore Coco Van­deweghe and Shelby Rogers beat Aryna Sa­balenka and Sas­novich 6-3, 7-6 in the de­cider.
