Name: Su­maiya Age: Eight Lives: Bangladesh SU­MAIYA had cataracts, which meant that she couldn’t see prop­erly and found school dif­fi­cult.

Once Su­maiya had the op­er­a­tion, her grand­mother said: “Af­ter re­turn­ing home I was very happy and so was Su­maiya. Su­maiya is see­ing bet­ter… Su­maiya’s life will be eas­ier now be­cause she will be able to read and write.”

Sight­savers, sup­ported by the UK Govern­ment, has launched a fi­nal push to­wards pro­vid­ing a mil­lion cataract op­er­a­tions. The Mil­lion Mir­a­cles UK Aid Match ap­peal sup­ports projects in Pak­istan, Bangladesh and else­where.
