THE Royal Zoological Society in Scotland is helping with work in Mongolia to find out more about a very shy cat called the Pallas's cat.

Pallas’s cats are one of the least-studied cats in the world. They are short, stocky cats, mainly grey/brown in colour with dark spots on the head and a dark-ringed tail which helps them to blend into their rocky and grasslands habitats, which span from Iran in the west to China and Mongolia in the east. RZSS has been working with local communities as part of the Pallas's Cat International Conservation Alliance to find out more about the cats and the threats they face in the wild. They also hope to raise awareness of the species.
