A new weather radar on the Isle of Lewis can tell you how big a snowflake is! The radar is the most northerly in the UK-wide net­work, and can also mea­sure the size of rain­drops. The site’s name was Beacon Hill, but it’s been changed to Druim a’Star­raig, which means ‘crow ridge’ in Gaelic.
