SCIENTISTS have discovered that the Arctic’s polar bears are running out of food.

This could mean that they could face extinction sooner rather than later.

Scientists monitored the habits of nine polar bears by fixing special collars around their necks to help monitor activity levels.

They monitored the bears for 8-12 days in their natural habitat of the Arctic and discovered that most of them couldn’t catch enough food to match their high energy levels.

But why is this happening? It’s all to do with climate change. Rising temperature levels are melting the sea ice in the Arctic, forcing polar bears to travel further to catch their prey, such as seals.
