THOU­SANDS of food­ies across the UK have been cel­e­brat­ing the start of British Food Fort­night this week.

Now in its 16th year, British Food Fort­night be­gan on Satur­day 22 Septem­ber and will run un­til Sun­day 7 Oc­to­ber.

Hun­dreds of events are be­ing held across towns and vil­lages, and in schools, shops, restau­rants and hos­pi­tals, all unit­ing un­der one theme: British food!

More than 1,000 schools across the coun­try will be serv­ing up British Food Fort­night menus made only with British in­gre­di­ents.

To cel­e­brate the NHS’s 70th birth­day this year, the fort­night will be cham­pi­oning hos­pi­tal cater­ers who go the ex­tra mile to put lo­cal, healthy and sea­sonal foods on the menu for pa­tients.
