With the closure of major cities, more people have been spending time in the great outdoors and their own gardens, and taking up birdwatching, as a result. In a beautiful twist to this miserable pandemic, as more novice birdwatchers have been logging their spots on various apps, a colossal amount of fresh data is being used now to aid conservation efforts following Australia’s devastating bushfires earlier this year.
