WHAT IS THE PROMS?
THE BBC Proms is one of the world’s most famous classical music festivals, and it’s held in London every year at the Royal Albert Hall. Musicians come from all around the world to perform, and the concerts are watched by millions of people around the globe. Here’s everything you need to know.
The festival has never missed a year – not even during the two world wars. The Proms are 125 years old this year but now, because of COVID-19, everyone is watching and listening to the concerts at home.
The biggest ever Proms fan is believed to be a man named Giancarlo Stoppini. Even though he lives in Italy, by 2012 he had already attended more than 1,800 Proms concerts!
