Northern Ireland’s chief scientific advisor, Professor Ian Young, has said that the number of COVID-19 cases in the region is rising rapidly. Throughout July, Northern Ireland detected just 237 positive cases of the disease, but just last week there were 242. Professor Young said that since there had been no deaths and only a few patients with COVID-19 in hospitals, people are forgetting the importance of social distancing.
