The fa­mous Not­ting Hill Car­ni­val took place on­line for the first time, af­ter the usual fes­tiv­i­ties were can­celled due to COVID-19. A huge street fes­ti­val cel­e­brat­ing Caribbean cul­ture has been held in the area ev­ery year since 1966, but Lon­don Mayor Sadiq Khan asked peo­ple to party at home this time. Hun­dreds held an un­of­fi­cial march along part of the Car­ni­val pa­rade’s usual route, to protest against racism.
