BioMar boosts pro­duc­tion by 70% at Nor­way plant

BIOMAR has in­creased the ca­pac­ity at its plant in Kar­møy, Nor­way, by 70 per cent, fol­low­ing the open­ing of a third line. Line 3, with an an­nual ca­pac­ity of 140,000 tonnes, will have one of the high­est hourly out­puts of any sin­gle pro­duc­tion line of fish feed any­where in the world. BioMar CEO Car­los Diaz, who was present at the of­fi­cial open­ing, said: ‘We wish to con­tinue pro­vid­ing the sal­mon in­dus­try with the very best, high per­for­mance fish feed and to do that we need to in­vest in the lat­est and best tech­nolo­gies.’ BioMar has in­vested NOK 436 mil­lion (£41 mil­lion) in the Kar­møy pro­duc­tion line. Among the ad­vanced tech­nolo­gies is an air pro­cess­ing sys­tem and scrub­bing tow­ers that use cold seawa­ter to scrub emis­sions.
