In ref­er­ence to your ‘Q&A’ ques­tion on how hu­mans tamed wolves (Au­gust, p76), I think you will find that, in an ef­fort to limit the dan­gers of tak­ing down large and dan­ger­ous an­i­mals, around 11,000 years ago wolves started to do­mes­ti­cate early hu­mans to do the killing for them, af­ter the wolves had done the track­ing and cor­ner­ing.
