Do you think last season was your best yet in a Tottenham shirt? If you look at the stats it probably was my best season, even though I did not score as many goals in the Premier League as I did in my second season here. Apart from the total number of goals, the stats look almost identical. The number of assists have been almost the same. We all created a lot of chances as a team last season – the difference was maybe that I was more clinical with my finishing. I feel I’m the same type of player I have always been. The team is a bit more settled now compared to my first 18 months here and I’ve benefited from that. That’s helped me develop the attacking part of my game and play to a higher level. Instead of running and helping my team-mates in that way, I have been able to add something extra.

Did your role in Spurs’ line-up alter much with the changes in system? The team playing three centre-backs has allowed me to move forward and play more freely than before. We’ve been able to play more directly and take more chances in the attacking part of our game, because we have the extra man covering at the back. I have started on both the left side

“OF COURSE, BARCELONA IS A FANTASTIC CLUB AND I DON’T THINK THERE ARE MANY PLAYERS WHO WOULD SAY no TO THEM”
