POTENTIAL BEING WASTED
The England squad for recent friendlies raised eyebrows due to the inclusion of Danny Welbeck and Jake Livermore, who’d underperformed beforehand. Why are we forced to include players who are out of form? The answer is that our players simply aren’t good enough. That seems an odd statement given we boast world champions at youth level, but young players never get a chance in the Premier League to make good on their potential – they become average when they could have become great.
