When it comes to l’amour, most people will think of Paris. But Strasbourg, capital of the Grand Est region, reveals a romantic side of its own with a festival dedicated to love.
Strasbourg mon amour, which runs from 10-19 February, highlights the city’s romantic appeal, with its quaint cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, and networks of pretty canals and bridges such as the Pont des Soupirs ( main picture).
The festival, launched in 2014, promises to offer a Valentine’s Day like no other. More than 40 events are planned, with highlights including a retro slow dance, gastronomic dinners; tours in the footsteps of famous figures such as Victor Hugo and Honoré de Balzac, both of whom were enchanted by Strasbourg; and screenings of romantic films.
Many of the events take place at the Café des Amours ( pictured above), a pop-up space in Place Kléber. strasbourg-monamour.eu
