British freelance writer Sandra lives in France with her French husband and their three children. She moved there in 2010 after eight years as a Guardian journalist, and since then has been writing on French culture, food, lifestyle and travel from her home near Toulouse. On page 44, Sandra visits some evocative cemeteries.
“One of my favourite places in France is the Île de Noirmoutier in Vendée. I first visited the island almost 20 years ago, and return with the children whenever I can. Its sandy coves, backed with little beach huts, sheltered by pine trees and overlooking the Atlantic, make it a beautiful place for family holidays.”
