Our guide to websites that can help you broaden your knowledge of France

Keep up to date with the dramatic political events in France and improve your language skills at the same time by clicking on to tf1.fr, the website of private French television channel TF1.

By creating a free MYTF1 account, you gain access to a range of videos: watch the news, either live via a video stream or from the previous day; tune into France’s top TV dramas and soaps by clicking on the Replay tab; follow the debate on a French politics show; or sit back and enjoy general entertainment programmes including Danse avec les stars and Secret Story (the French equivalents of Strictly Come Dancing and Big Brother respectively).

As well as the videos, tf1.fr features interactive games, arranged according to your interests. General games designed for easy viewing are listed under the Jeux détente tab. For a slightly tougher challenge, test your general knowledge – in French, bien sûr – with the quiz shows Qui Veut Gagner des Millions? (the French answer to Who Wants to be a Millionaire?) and Les 12 Coups de Midi.
