2-14 May De­sign D’days fes­ti­val Paris This fair show­cases the best of con­tem­po­rary de­sign by ex­hibit­ing the lat­est in­no­va­tive fur­ni­ture, light­ing and in­te­rior dec­o­ra­tion across sev­eral lo­ca­tions in Paris. 20 May La Mé­do­caine Ar­sac, Gironde This epic cy­cle ride takes the largest gath­er­ing of moun­tain bik­ers in France around some of the best of Bordeaux’ wine ap­pel­la­tions. The 6,500 cy­clists can choose from seven dif­fer­ent routes of vary­ing dis­tances that include stops at wine do­maines for tast­ings. 20-27 May Jazz sous les Pom­miers Coutances, Manche Held every year dur­ing As­cen­sion week­end, this mu­sic fes­ti­val cel­e­brates ev­ery­thing jazz and wel­comes bands of sim­i­lar gen­res. The eclec­tic line-up for the 36th edi­tion mixes New Or­leans jazz and elec­tronic mu­sic with the oc­ca­sional street per­for­mance. 24-28 May Fes­ti­val du Mot La Char­ité-sur-loire, Nièvre First cre­ated in 2005, this charm­ing fes­ti­val is held in France’s ‘Ville des Livres’ – town of books – which boasts over 15 li­braries de­spite the town’s rel­a­tively small size.
