Chris Ryan Didn’t stop me at all, if anything made me more convinced I was doing the right thing.

Simon Websper It’s a little concerning not knowing what will happen when Brexit is a done deal. I doubt it will change my mind though. Sam Clarke We are Brit expats living in Dubai but the plan is for myself to move to France and my husband to follow later so we can both semi-retire.

Do we wait and see or just go for it and hope there will be no repercussions? We have a plan and a dream we both wish to fulfil, but I am erring on the side of caution a little. Steve Patriquen France was already punitive in its tax treatment of non-citizens, and if nothing else, this will allow them to squeeze expat “no longer EU citizen” Brits of more desperately-needed money. As you get older, you realise renting is often more sensible, plus you get to try many locations without a long-term commitment.

Donna Holland Nope, just bought.

Lorraine Turnbull We were planning our permanent move to France a few years ago. The threat of Brexit saddened us immensely, but has only made us want to move more quickly. We are hoping to sell very soon now and cannot wait to move. Scary? No – we are ready for a new adventure!

Sian Phillips We are in the same situation, waiting to sell, then we’re off! Simon Preen Waiting for house to sell, then off to France permanently! Hopefully very soon; house we want is still up for sale.

George White We’ve brought our plans forward because of all this insane rubbish! We’ve bought a small cottage here in Provence, and are hoping our main house will sell before the UK economy totally crashes. Lorraine Turnbull It is so sad. My kids are at uni and will probably both work abroad. We seriously thought about having a small place in Scotland (where we are from originally), but no. It’s France for us.

Sarah Ashley Brexit happened during our purchase. Cost us a bit more, but if anything it convinced us we were doing the right thing. Rod HaseldenNicholls Keep buying... it’s worth any extra bureaucracy that might be introduced.

Karen Canty Am now waiting until France and UK do a deal on healthcare as I rely heavily on the NHS. It’s been my dream to move to France since I was young.

Jim Cartwright We bought and pick up the keys on Friday.

Gladys Gonzalez Miller Want to move to France, just waiting to see election results to make the move...

Lindsey Heggarty We are buying regardless. Brexit ony convinced us we’re doing the right thing.

Beardog White We fast-forwarded our decision to move and we’re in France now and waiting for our house to sell in UK, so we can buy our last-timebuyer house in France. Gail Bristow Brexit will not put us off... too much scaremongering going on though. What will be will be and France is too beautiful a country to have narrow-minded politics spoil things!

Yvette Tomlinson We too have fast-forwarded our decision to move to France. Gutted about the GBP to euro rate now though as we don’t have a huge amount of capital, but hey ho... rather be in France than the UK. Martin George Thomas Exchange rates have stopped me dead at the moment.
