Our man in the country finds solutions to your pastoral problems
While it’s been a relatively mild winter and spring, what a strange summer it was in some areas of France and in the UK. There were unusually hot temperatures in parts of May, June and early July, yet they were far less seasonal towards the end of July and positively autumnal for much of early August. Then things warmed up again. With all that in mind, there’s perhaps no wonder that much of this month’s Rural Riddles is taken up with the subject of insects affecting life in la France profonde.
