I was pleased to see Marseille being covered in the October issue of FPN. I always hear how Marseille is a dirty and dangerous city (even some of my friends think so!) and the terrible attack at the St-charles train station has only deepened people’s mistrust of it. Although these dreadful attacks are sadly becoming more common these days, I think we shouldn’t let them deter us from visiting the places we love.

I have been to Marseille many times and am always surprised to find new things to see. My latest discovery was the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations (MUCEM), a really fabulous museum with a fascinating architecture. Though I wouldn’t want to buy in the city (I’m a real country girl), I’d love to own a home somewhere near Marseille so that I could dip in and out at leisure. Hayley Grant
