My dream home
Benoite Bernardeau is awash with praise for this charming three-bedroom home with rambling gardens and a stretch of private riverbank in Vienne
A home with private riverbank and wildlife garden in rural Vienne
Benoite Bernardeau, of Argu’s Immobilier, imagines paddling, baking and admiring wildlife at this three-bedroom riverside home in rural Vienne, on the market for €182,000
When you step inside this property, you can’t help but fall in love with it. For my part, I was immediately charmed by its authenticity and its incredible view over the river.
The house is nestled in a beautiful garden and by following a little winding path over the grounds, you come to your own private section of the riverbank. Inside, the stone-built house is brimming with original features. From the entrance hall, you step into a cosy sitting room with a stone fireplace, then into the lovely kitchen-diner. Upstairs, off the large landing, you will find two bedrooms and a bathroom as well as a master bedroom with ensuite. Attached to the house is a traditional bread oven, a wood shed and a little workshop. A separate outbuilding has the potential to be converted.
Without doubt, my favourite feature is the 7,250m² garden. Both welcoming and wild, it has areas set up for relaxation by the riverside, daydreaming in the shade of the lime tree, pottering in the veg patch and – in an area left to Mother Nature – encouraging wildlife. On every visit, this house has me daydreaming of fun days paddling in the river with the kids, pleasant evenings watching the wildlife, not forgetting cosy winter nights curled up by the fire or cooking traditional dishes in the bread oven with all my family and friends round.
Just 3km from the house, you will find the boulangerie and grocer’s of Joussé village or the pleasant village of ChâteauGarnier, with its restaurant and pretty lake, offering fishing, tennis and mini-golf.
Department capital Poitiers is about 40km away with its international airport and highspeed trains which can reach Paris in two hours.
