In later it­er­a­tions of the game, guest char­ac­ters had be­gun to be­come a fo­cal part of the se­ries. Many fans felt this ini­tially in­ter­est­ing ap­proach be­gan to take pri­or­ity over the fo­cus on im­prov­ing the se­ries’ core game­play and cheap ex­ploits. Some felt this was an un­nec­es­sary gim­mick and held out hopes that fu­ture games would move away from this. Soul­cal­ibur VI’S pro­ducer is not giv­ing much away in this re­gard, and the feel­ing is that it’s not so much a case of ‘if’ rather than ‘when’ po­ten­tial guest char­ac­ters will be re­vealed. Project Soul is look­ing to recre­ate the se­ries’ feel-good fac­tor, and by tak­ing its lead from the solid game­play me­chan­ics of Soul­cal­ibur II rather than the much it­er­ated se­quels it may well be on the right track.

We could yet see a plethora of he­roes and vil­lains from other fran­chises join the cast
